Client files are retained for a minimum of seven (7) years after the close of the matter, in accordance with Malaysian Bar Council guidelines and limitation periods under the Limitation Act 1953. After this period, files are destroyed securely. Technical and analytics data is retained for no more than 26 months.
8. Data Security
- Client files are stored in locked physical filing systems and password-protected digital systems
- Access to client data is restricted to the adviser and staff working on the matter
- Email communications involving sensitive data are handled with reasonable care; we may suggest encryption for highly sensitive matters
- Any suspected data breach is reported to the relevant authority and affected clients without undue delay
